Employment Law

As an employee, you are protected by local, state, and federal laws. Employers cannot discriminate against workers on the basis of their sex, race, religion, national origin and in some Oregon counties, sexual orientation. In addition, if you are represented by a union, your collective bargaining agreement can provide additional protection. You are entitled to a harassment-free working environment, and you have to be paid for all work you perform with a higher overtime rate. In addition, in most cases, you must be paid by the end of the next business day when you are terminated or by the next pay period when you are still employed.

We also represent labor unions and their members in both the public and private sector. We are knowledgeable about union members' rights and unionized employer's responsibilities. We provide aggressive representation for the benefit of labor unions and their members.

BHMK has the resources and expertise to pursue class action lawsuits and other pieces of complex litigation. We take on large corporations and State bureaucracies when the employer's illegal employment practices affect large groups of employees.
